His contributions to the ABA’s Collateral Consequences website included coding statutes and providing legal interpretations, showcasing his depth of knowledge and skill.

Brian’s life is a testament to transformation and resilience. Having overcome a challenging upbringing and personal adversities, including decades of incarceration, he turned his focus to studying law, advocating for prisoners’ rights, and supporting and their pursuit of justice. His efforts have not only brought freedom to many but have also drawn attention to systemic flaws within the judicial and penal systems.

Currently, Brian manages Prisoner Consultants, LLC, a Florida-based prisoners’ rights group, where he continues his advocacy work. He stays committed to creating meaningful change, believing in second chances and the power of the law to rectify injustices. With unwavering determination, Brian aims to reform the legal system and provide hope to those most in need of a voice.

The Redemption and Mission of Brian Anthony Morris

Brian Anthony Morris, a post-conviction specialist and certified law clerk, has dedicated his life to fighting wrongful convictions and unjust sentences in the State of Florida. His journey is a tale of hardship, redemption, and a relentless drive to bring justice to those most in need. With over 100 prisoners aided in obtaining post-conviction relief and credit for more than 40 published appellate court opinions, Brian is a beacon of hope for incarcerated individuals seeking a second chance.

A Journey Born of Struggles

Born in 1962, Brian’s life was marked by early adversity. Abandoned by his mother at the age of eight, he lived in a self-built fort until kind strangers took him in. His rebellious youth led him into a life of crime and addiction, culminating in arrests and convictions that placed him behind bars for nearly 30 years.

In prison, Brian found his calling. Determined to change his life and help others, he immersed himself in law, earning a reputation as a “walking encyclopedia” of Florida’s post-conviction remedies. Despite the darkness of his environment, Brian became a symbol of resilience, helping countless inmates in navigating the complexities of the legal system.

The Turning Point

Brian’s turning point came when he successfully overturned his own 30-year federal sentence in a landmark case. His expertise, honed through years of study in prison law libraries, caught the attention of attorneys, judges, and even prosecutors. Upon his release in 2011, he quickly became a sought-after advocate, working with organizations like the American Bar Association and founding the Florida Post-Conviction Legal Aid Organization.

A Legacy of Advocacy

Now based in Florida, Brian focuses his skills and abilities to prisoners’ right and postconviction remedies, continuing his mission to combat mass incarceration and systemic injustices. He tirelessly champions reform, emphasizing the devastating impacts of for-profit prisons and excessive sentencing. His story is not just one of personal transformation but also a testament to the power of second chances.

Through his work, Brian reminds us that no life is beyond redemption and that justice should never be reserved for the privileged few. His voice continues to inspire, echoing a powerful message: “Together, we can make a difference.”

Brian discovered an erroneous calculation in my sentencing guidelines scoresheet that resulted in the court vacating a 40 year sentence all my lawyers had missed. Brian got the court to correct my sentence and I walked out of prison. Brian got the last 20 years’ and the rest of my life back for me!  He is the best….

USA v. Eugene Joseph Casternovia, No. 10-14729 (11th Cir. 2013)

The lawyer for one of my co-defendants wrote a 250-page brief which I had read and taken pages of notes on so, I was already familiar with some of the “Points of law” in my case. Brian says; “Let me see the indictment.” As he read it, although he has not seen the 250 page brief prepared by the attorneys, Brian proceeded to quote chapter and verse the points of law highlighted in the brief and he added some additional points. Brian did this within seconds, off the top of his head, having never seen the case before him, off the 3-page indictment! just Bam! Bam! Bam. Needless to say, he had my attention. In the ensuing years, he has counseled me on several occasions. His advice is both accurate and, now get this please, tempered with the experience of how the system actually works. Not the book theory but how it actually works you know, on the back side where the folks caught up never see. His assistance has saved me from going down some dead ends and convinced the federal trial court to grant me an early termination of supervision. Brian is not just competent he is a savant. Finally, his ever-present good nature does a lot to set my emotions at ease while I’m in the thick of it. If you have the opportunity to work with Brian, well sorry about the situation you're in: but please know, you are in good hands. And by the way, If he can not help, he will tell you that also. I’ve seen him turn down money rather than peddle false hope. Gino

Brian shows excess intuition in the subject of post conviction evaluations and appeals. I have the instinct to ALWAYS read and RE-read ALL documents pertaining to whatever case law, or any subject- period, but I would always trust Brian, and actually I have never felt the NEED to read- but of course I do just out of habit. He is GREAT to work with. Gives amazing results! Independent Graphic Design Professional
